Been listening to "Ellipse". Imogen Heap is sort of like Tori Amos (minus the lyrical acuity) and Bjork (minus the musical reach). So it's the perfect bleep-pop cup of quirk before bedtime. Her previous efforts "I Megaphone" and "Speak for Yourself" seem somewhat stronger to me, but I reeeeally hate to be that guy who's like: "I knew her when, even heard her work in Frou Frou, but she's gone commercial now, selling cell phones and whatnots!" Besides, I like this album fine. Josh Schwartz has material here for his next three pilots. He should be thanking Immi. First Train Home? Got to Get On It? Perfect for that "Gossip Girl" goodbye scene! Did you catch her on Letterman some days back? Was it just me, or is Dave a little freaked out by her outfit, and a bit more condescending than usual? Like: "You hipster kids". Even calls her "dude" at the end there? Maybe it's just me. Maybe they've had sex and it's the awkward morning after, who knows! It's Dave!
Definitely over Imogen. It sounds just like her first album only less inspired, and after realizing that, I noticed that her first album bugs as me as well now too. Crap!
Re: Lorn We're such knowing hipsters ;-) But you are right, her first was better- I don't think she's capable of taking her music to a "great" level. Still, it's pleasant night time music to my ears. What bugs you about "I Megaphone"?
Re: Lorn That's what happens when you're hip to someone before they go mainstream. It's our curse for being so damned cool ;-) I miss you, just so you know.

I'll be the first to say it: Kate Bush/ Annie Lennox would have worked just as fine, comparison wise.

Nothing technically, just, when faced with the same sounds sold as 'new' years later, it fades as well.
